In March 2018, the power couple officially announced that their On the Run II (or OTR II) Tour would kick off in Cardiff, Wales, on June 6.

In June, Beyoncé and Jay-Z embarked on the European leg of their 48-date tour. While they lived up to expectations with their theatrics and swagger, the couple also surprised fans with the release of their joint album, Everything Is Love, following a London show on June 16. Initially available for streaming only on the Jay-Z owned Tidal, the nine-track album was accompanied by a video for the track “Apes**t,” which featured the couple and their dancers gallivanting around some of the world’s most famous artworks at the Louvre in Paris.

 Beyoncé headlined the 2018 Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival, performing on April 14 and 21 at the Empire Polo Club in Indio, California. Making up for her cancellation of a headlining appearance at Coachella the previous year due to her pregnancy with twins, Beyoncé was the first African-American woman to headline the festival. Her performances paid tribute to the culture of historically black colleges and universities, featuring a full marching band and majorette dancers, while incorporating various aspects of black Greek life, such as a step show along with strolling by pledges. The performances were also influenced by black feminism, sampling black authors and featuring on-stage appearances by fellow Destiny’s Child members Kelly Rowland and Michelle Williams as well as sister Solange Knowles.

Her performance of April 14 immediately received widespread critical praise, with many in the media describing the show as “historic”.[1][2] The performance was nicknamed “Beychella” by fans and the media. On April 17, 2019, Beyoncé released a concert film and live album of her performance entitled Homecoming.

On April 17, 2019, Beyoncé released a Netflix documentary about her Coachella performance, ‘Homecoming,’ and a surprise companion album which included 40 live tracks.

Movies

July brought the premiere of The Lion King, which featured Beyoncé as Nala, the childhood friend turned love interest of the titular character, played by Donald Glover. The singer also curated and produced a companion album for the production, titled The Lion King: The Gift, and released the single “Spirit” around the time of the film’s release.

The Lion King: The Gift, Beyoncé‘s executive-produced album inspired by the 2019 motion picture, has been delivered. The 27-track album — 14 original tracks and 13 interludes from the Disney feature film — features an impressive set of headliners like Jay-Z, Pharrell Williams, Tierra Whack, Childish Gambino and Kendrick Lamar as well as global acts from Nigeria, Ghana, Jamaica and more.

Lion King: The Gift pays tribute to Disney’s 1994 animated classic The Lion King as well as the continent where it takes place.

“This soundtrack is a love letter to Africa, and I wanted to make sure we found the best talent from Africa,” Bey said in a Good Morning America interview. “I wanted to be authentic to what is beautiful about music in Africa.”She won her first three career GRAMMYs with Destiny’s Child, including Best R&B Performance By A Duo Or Group for “Survivor.” She won five awards as a solo artist at the 46th GRAMMY Awards, including Best Contemporary R&B Album for Dangerously In Love.

Grammys

Beyonce made her GRAMMY stage debut with Destiny’s Child at the 43rd GRAMMYs in 2001, performing a medley of “Independent Women, Part I” and “Say My Name.” Alongside Prince at the 46th GRAMMY Awards in 2004, Beyoncé performed a medley that included his “Purple Rain” and her “Crazy In Love.”

Beyoncé is the most-nominated female artist in GRAMMY history, with a total of 23 awards and 66 nominations from the Grammy Awards!
